My poor blogs have all been sadly neglected, I’ve just got back from a trip to New Zealand so my 2010 resolution is to stop the neglect and get writing!!!
At least one trip to Japan, one to Malaysia and one to NZ need some creative flair….
Stay tuned….

Too many ways to write, means this blog gets neglected; time to stop twittering focus!
The last couple of weeks have been a combination of a couple of my favourite things; Japanese culture and a film festival. This time of year brings the Japanese Film Festival to Sydney. With Sydney having 40 degree days right now it is perfect.

Travelling
Although Tokyo is easily one of the most crowded cities I’ve been in there are some beautiful places away from the city really not very far out of town.

If you want to see teenage trendy, it is hard to think of anywhere that can match a walk through Shibuya.

Back on a plane heading North for another look at Japan, maybe a solution on how to write, sort photos, do some work on eLife and generally keep my online worlds alive while I’m there; a Hackintosh!

Outdoors and Exercise
It is finally beginning to warm up in Sydney so it was the perfect day to hit the water at Lane Cove National Park.
One of the best parts of Sydney is the pockets of bush really close in. I live less than 7 km from the CBD yet there is a fantastic national park in my suburb.
We rented a row boat and went for a paddle feeding the ducks. A great way to finish the weekend…

Over the last few years I have been searching for a decent way of having my music delivered all around the house without having the hassles of CD players everywhere.
Multi-room amplifiers work well but are ridiculously expensive and can’t be installed when renting, iTunes can send music to multiple airport receivers, but only if you all want to listen to the same thing. The answer seemed to be pointing to, the still reasonably expensive, Squeezebox.
Then, out of the blue a good deal on Catch of the Day left me with a brand new Pinnacle SoundBridge HomeMusic.

A few weeks ago I went with Span on a cycling trip from Macquarie to Kiama.
This is a great trip, you catch the train to Macquarie for the start then ride through beautiful rolling hills to the Robertson Hotel for the night. Actually those hills tended to roll far more up than down, but it meant dinner was really appreciated!

Photography
On the weekend I joined up with a photographic shoot with the Sydney photography forum group onto Cockatoo Island. The island has been used for various ship building activities since around 1850. The Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority is in the process of restoring it. In the meantime it has just been reopened, things aren’t yet fenced off so it is the perfect time to have a look.
The island is full of old cranes, empty buildings, electrical fittings… lots of things to take pictures of!

I always try to go to things on around Sydney every month or so. Tonight I went along to the Opera House Studio to see some modern Japanese dance, not quite right, by the Strange Kinoko Dance Company.
